Wu-Tang member U-God is reportedly looking to New Jersey police for protection because of concerns that people affiliated with the rap group are out to get him.
According to The Jersey Journal, U-God (born Lamont Hawkins) contacted Jersey City police on June 8 saying that mysterious men in vehicles with various out of state license plates have been following him from his Manhattan studio to his New Jersey home. U-God went on to say that he thinks he is being followed because of an $180,000 lawsuit he filed against the Wu back in January of this year.
On one occasion, the rapper said that he was walking out of his building’s garage when two men got out of a car and one of them motioned toward his waistband as if he had a weapon.
U also claimed that his stalkers also tried to gain entry into the garage but were unsuccessful. In addition to the threatening gestures, U said that they often roll down their windows and nod at him.
Although this has allegedly been going on for the past two months, U says he failed to contact the police before because he doesn’t trust them. He added that he now feels threatened and can’t take it anymore.
According to reports, U filed suit against the Wu after he claimed he failed to receive payment for touring Europe with the group in January and February. He said he is owed about $180,000.
At press time, no one had been charged and U-God couldn’t be reached for comment.
